Day 2 Matosinhos - Vila Chã
Friday 27/July/2018
15 km 6 hrs of which pauses of 30, 60 (lunch) and 30 min
Seeing the above times you can tell we are on holiday! Up almost as late as yesterday - I have to start the getting-up procedure earlier if I want to get out earlier. On the other hand with stages as short as this and a nice cooling breeze there is no need to get up early.
Breakfast was included in the price so we had it in our hotel. Found the river easily, crossed the bridge, and walked briskly to the sea. And then it was mostly on wooden planks following the coastline. Many sandy beaches, not crowded at all, parts of the coast quite rocky, fairly big waves with some surfers.
At lunchtime we went to a beachside restaurant thinking of having a pizza or some such thing and ended up having delicious seabass, deliciously expensive too, but then I thought why not live it up occasionally. We had to wait quite a long time for our lunch and observed several pilgrims on the boardwalk not far from the restaurant, mostly in twos and mostly Germans as you could tell by the yellow German guide book they were carrying.
The sun was shining all the while accompanied by a gentle breeze, so walking was not difficult. But the many bars along the way, all offering icecreams, were difficult to resist and so we didn’t resist. You see the picture - we are on holiday!
In the end there were four of us, all German females, looking for the same Residencial and when we were having our evening meal another two arrived. However we retired without more than Hello and so here I am telling you about a day with nothing much to talk about.

PS Yesterday Alison had her elbow operated! I forgot to mention earlier that a week ago Alison fell and broke her elbow when she took a “sandy” corner on her bike and slipped. So she cannot come on our camino immediately, but we hope she can join us somewhere for a few days - maybe fly to Santiago and take a taxi to wherever we will be at that time. Clara and James (almost 18 and 15) will fly on their own to O Porto and Andrea has ordered a bigger taxi to take all of them from the airport to Povoa de Varzim tomorrow.

| THE PROBLEM OF WHERE TO TIE THE WASHING LINE MAIS OU PENDRE LE FILS A LINGE ? |
On a
