Day 6 Fao - Viana do Castello
Tuesday 31/07/2018
28 km 7 hrs plus lunch 1 1/2 hrs and beach 1 1/2 hrs and minor stops
Another wonderful day albeit very tiring. Yesterday it turned out to be “only” 19 km instead of the expected 26. But today we finished at 28! The youngsters were very good and the oldsters too.
Brillant sunshine all day and very strong wind, nice and cool. We walked mostly along beaches, as before. Quite a bit of road, less board walks, and in the end mostly through patchy pine forests in the dunes. This made walking difficult where the vegetation had worn off and the sand was lose.
The beach stop we had right in front of the life guard post - very reassuring with a yellow flag. By the time we left they had hoisted a red flag! At one point after we were no longer immediately next to the beach we came across a fruit and vegetable stall - a welcome stop.

Coming into Viana do Castello it
was a long walk over the estuary of the river Cavado on a “double decker”
bridge - trains below and cars and pedestrians above.
Having arrived so late (at 8 pm) we decided to go in search of our dinner immediately ie just change shoes and leave shower and the rest till afterwards. During the meal the youngsters were amazingly annimated it seemed to me, but left to go back to our hotel before Andrea and myself. I too became much less animated once I was in bed - and left the writing of this until the following morning.
Nothing more to report - the photos say it all.

| ARRIVAL ARRIVEE |
On a cheminé

Rien
d’autre à raconter, les photos parlent d'elles même.
